  • Summerville H.S. - 2 Year Varsity Starter (33-19): Co- Captain- South Carolina's Largest H.S. at the time (3,600 students) Led Summerville H.S. to a 19 win season - School record for wins at AAAA Level (Highest classification in SC)
  • All-Region 6AAAA, Honorable Mention All-Low country
  • Averaged 11 points, 9 assists/game
  • School record holder for single-season assists per game average (9.1)
  • School record holder for single-season assist total (243)
  • Held single game assist record (15) until it was broken 16 years later

COACH RYAN SAWYER - Assistant Director

Ryan was a Player through our CWB Program, and is now a Head Coach at all of our camps.  Ryan has an incredible way of connecting with our athletes and is known for "fixing" errors in form, footwork and all aspects of the "game" ~ producing better overall players.

Ryan has been with CWB since 2004

COACH AJ GIBBS

AJ has been a coach with CWB since the inaugural season and is Coach Ward’s right hand man. Since 2008 Coach Gibbs has coached in 700+ games and has a winning percentage above .700. AJ is known as a “players coach” across the program as he prides himself on getting the most out of each player. Prior to joining CWB, Coach Gibbs Played at Seminole High School in Florida where he was a 3 year Varsity Basketball play. Additionally, AJ won 1 baseball national championship while in High School. Coach Gibbs then played basketball collegiately at Webber International University. 

COACH MICHAEL WAGNER

Michael is another one of our CWB players returning as members of the staff. Michael has been with CWB since he was in the 5th grade. Coach Wagner attended Fordham Prep where he was a 3 sport athlete before graduating in 2015. Most recently Michael attended Catholic University of America where he was a 2 year Football player. 

COACH BRAD TATZ

COACH JACKSON GONSETH

Jackson was a three year varsity player for the Briarcliff Bears. He was 10th team all state his senior year and made it to state semifinals for class B.  He played at Rhodes college in Memphis TN, then transferred to SUNY Geneseo where he walked onto the Mens Varsity Basketball Team.  Jackson has been part of the CWB family since the 4th grade!

COACH MAX ZAKHEIM

Max Zakheim graduated from the Frisch Academy. Max was a two year Varsity starter and captain. He was first team all league and MVP of the national Glouberman tournament. In the summer of 2019 Max won a gold medal as a member of the team USA under 18 pan american Macabi Games in Mexico city. Max currently plays AAU for Chris Ward Basketball.  He has been part of the CWB family for 2 years.

COACH KEVIN ROGERS 

Kevin Rogers- Three year starter and two year captain for Nanuet. Currently attends SUNY Geneseo and majoring in mathematics.  Kevin has been part of the CWB family since his freshman year in HS.

COACH SIDNEY THYBULLE

Sidney Thybulle, 19, Rising sophomore at Johns Hopkins University. Member of Men’s Basketball Team; Centennial Conference Champions and #6 Ranked Team Nationally.   Computer Science Major. Graduated from Irvington High School in 2019.  2-Time All-Section Varsity player.  Sidney has been part of the CWB family since his freshman year in HS.

COACH GRACE THYBULLE

Grace Thybulle, 17, Rising senior at Irvington High School and committed to Yale University. Was named state MVP in Irvington’s 2019 state championship win.  Grace has been a part of the CWB family since middle school and is amazing with our campers. She eludes confidence, patience and kindness to all our athletes!

COACH KAYLA HALVORSEN

Kayla Halvorsen, 17,  is a rising senior at Dobbs Ferry High School . She has been playing basketball for 6 years and have played for Dobbs for 4 years. Kayla has verbally committed to continue her athletic and academic career at Mercy College on a full athletic scholarship and plans to major in Nursing.  Kayla has been part of the CWB family for 2 years.

COACH ROSS LACHTMAN

Ross Lachtman,  currently attending Syracuse university is studying IT and will be a junior this upcoming school year.  Played Varsity Basketball for the Briarcliff Bears and has been part of the CWB family since middle school.

COACH CHRIS WARD Jr.

Chris is a rising junior at Hamilton HS.  Chris has been part of the CWB family since birth.  He is a great role model for young hoopers. He displays the results of hard work and dedication to the sport. We are extremely proud to have him as part of our staff!

COACH DENIS WARD

Denis is an upcoming junior at Kennedy College Prep.  He's been part of the CWB family since 6th grade. He currently is  an integral part of the CWB 16U AAU Team and is an energetic teacher to our young athletes!

COACH LOUIS CARDILLO

Louis is a rising senior at Kennedy Catholic HS.  He plays football and basketball.  Louis currently plays with the CWB 16U AAU team. He enjoys working with kids and had been with the CWB family since middle school.

COACH ANDREW LAUB

Coach Ward has been my mentor and coach since I was in 7th grade, and has helped me grow as a player. It is an amazing experience now coaching young players and teaching them the many things Coach Ward taught me when I was their age.

COACH BEN MARTUCCI

Coach Ben Martucci, better known as “Tooch”, has been a part of the CWB program since 2008 and serves as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the all CWB Boys’ AAU teams.  He has experience coaching basketball scholastically on all three levels (Modified, J.V. (both Boys and Girls), and Varsity).  He teaches Physical Education/Health in the Croton-Harmon School District.
Tooch served as Head Coach of the Girls’ Varsity basketball team at Hendrick Hudson High School for 3 seasons, where he was able to build the program, highlighted by leading a 4-16 team to a dramatic turnaround 12-10 season.  He earned Section 1 Conference II Girls’ “Coach of the Year” honors in 2008-2009.  
Tooch is currently in his 4th year as the Head Coach of the Girls’ Varsity basketball team at Croton-Harmon High School, on a mission to build the program there as well.  In the 2011-2012 season the Tigers finished with a 12-8 record, their best in 8 years, and also won their first sectional playoff game in 7 years. 
Tooch served as Assistant Coach for the Empire State Games Hudson Valley Boys’ Scholastic team for 6 years (1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal). 

COACH ALEX PERLMAN

"I've been a part of Chris Ward Basketball for nine years. I first met Chris Ward at a David Lee basketball camp the summer between my 7th and 8th grade. I started Player Development training immediately when I started 8th grade, at the age of 12. I played for the Copper Beech Middle School modified program at the time. I attended CWB Elite Camp at the beginning of every summer all the way through my senior year at Lakeland High School. Because of Chris Ward, I was given the starting nod for Lakeland Varsity Basketball as early as Sophomore year. I played AAU basketball for CWB for two years and in my second year, we posted the best record CWB has ever had. I started volunteer coaching for Chris Ward's basketball camps my junior year of high school. It wasn't until my senior year that I officially became a part of the coaching staff at all summer basketball camps, having mastered his offensive and defensive principles.Coach Ward has helped me get recruited to play Division III college basketball at SUNY New Paltz, where I am now the starting center and senior co-captain of the team."

COACH AUSTIN BROWN

Coach Brown has developed as a CWB Player for 7 years, while a player as a SOMERS TUSKER.  With much hard work and dedication to the game, Austin continued his basketball career at Connecticut College.  He has become like a member of our family and is an excellent role model for our youth.  He has been a CWB coach for five years. 

COACH CONOR MURPHY

Coach Murphy has been a Player with CWB for 11 years.  He was a Fordham Prep Ram in HS and a major player in the program.  With CWB, he started out in Camps and progressed through the Player Development Program and AAU, where his hard work and dedication allowed him to currently be a significant member of the SUNY Geneseo Mens' Basketball Program.  He has been coaching CWB academy camps for 4 years and is a tremendous role model for our young campers.

COACH KEVIN DAHILL

Coach Dahill began training with Coach Ward as a sophomore while attending Dobbs Ferry High School.  He went on to play four seasons at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.  There, Kevin assisted the Thoroughbreds secure the school’s first two Liberty League Championships.  Coach Dahill has over 10 years in the Chris Ward Basketball Program and has been working as a Coach for the past 3 years.

COACH MATT MOROS

Coach Moros was a Somers Tusker ~ Class of 2014. A 3 year varsity player, 2 time all-league, all-conference, academic all-state, court of excellence member, Coach Moros was truly a standout student athlete.  He was with CWB for 6 years, where he progressed through Player Development, AAU and Camps and is now a member of the Hamilton College Varsity Men's Basketball Team.

COACH MICHAEL WARD

Coaching Experience:

*Junior varsity/varsity assistant coach 1991-1993 at SUMMERVILLE HS AAAA Level ~ Summerville, SC.  *Pinewood Preparatory School:  1998-2001 Head JV coach/assistant Varsity.  Two region titles in JV/ two state championships in 4 years.  *Head Varsity girls coach (Fort Dorchester HS ~ Charleston, SC) 2001, 2002. 16 game winner and made it to the third round of the state playoffs in AAAA  Head JV Boys/Varsity assistant 2002/2003.  *15 game winners in both.
